BEYOND THE STREETS NYC 2019

A couple of weeks ago we were lucky enough to go check out the Beyond TheStreets NYC Exchibition. Since we've stemmed from graffiti it is always good when something graffiti related pops up. The art show was pricey but it was definitely worth it because we spent probably 3.5 hours just walking around in there. It was 2 floors, the first floor featured old school graffiti, new graffiti, lots of NYC history and culture which was dope. The Beastie Boys section was really dope with all of their old lyrics, flyers, equipment, etc. It's always important to stay in tune with the history of whatever it is you are into because these are the people who paved the way for you to become who you are. You also gotta keep in mind that you are a part of history too, so it's up to us to keep it alive. The 2nd floor was more geared towards street art & regular painted canvases which is not a personal favorite but it was still dope to check out & very inspiring. So many talented individuals in one show, we left there feeling extremely motivated & inspired. If you aren't in NYC we posted a small recap of 60+ pictures for you to check out.

"BEYOND THE STREETS celebrates society’s most pervasive mark makers and rule breakers with unprecedented purpose and scale. The exhibition explores the collective urgency of using the street as a canvas for expression. People have long taken to the streets to share a name, phrase, image or cause with the world around them to force a public discourse. Streets act as the symbolically important public stage that is both local and universal, the bedrock for both public protest and anonymous action. While the subject matter varies and the mediums are many, it is in the public sphere where these messages find a home." (Taken from Beyondthestreets.com)
